Wonder Woman

I love to read comic books. I've also really loved the super hero movies that have come out recently like The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises. But I really wish that there would be a big blockbuster about a super heroine! I think it's time a Wonder Woman movie, don't you? 

Today I made an outfit with a tie tee with a Wonder Woman fabric. I think it's a perfect getup for class in the fall!

Easter!


I saw this video by youtuber devinsupertramp and I almost fainted. How cute! This totally puts me in an Easter-y mood. Everything about Easter is just so adorable: bunnies, chicks, all the pastel colors...

Easter dresses have a special place in my heart. My mom used to dress me in frilly pastel dresses for church and for family brunch. I love to pick out frilly and lacy spring outfits at the shop!

Shiny things!

I don't know what it is about me that makes shiny things SO INTERESTING. Seriously. Anything shiny just catches my eyes like a magpie.

This is why the necklaces in the store make me so happy. Such bright colors and so shiny. Little girls love them!

Sprintime & Bunnies!

It's hard to believe that it was snowing this time last week in Madison! Now it's so warm. Time for spring!

Spring makes me think of pastel colors and cute fluffy animals. Spring makes me think of little chicks and bunnies!It's almost impossible not to think bunnies are cute, just look at them!

We have the cutest bunny hats in the store in adorable pastel colors. I always keep one next to me at work, I just love to look at them. I wish there was one my size!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

 Today is Dr. Seuss' birthday! It's also Read Across America Day. I know I'm going to celebrate by reading my favorite Seuss books. When I was in elementary school, today we would come to class in our pajamas and have story time most of the day.

Here are some fun facts:
Dr. Seuss is a pen name. His real name was Theodor Geisel
I've been saying his name wrong my entire life! Seuss is rhymes with "voice". Who knew?

The Hall of Game Awards!!!

Monday night we watched the Hall of Game Awards on Cartoon Network with the kids. This year it was extra sweet, because Patty Cakes gear was in the gift baskets! We couldn't be more proud!

Eeyore

When I was a little girl, I used to watch my Winnie the Pooh VHS tapes three times a week. I was totally hooked! 
 Here's an episode for you all!
As much as I love Roo, Rabbit, and Piglet, my absolute favorite was Eeyore.  He might be glum, but Eeyore is very sweet.

When I came into the store today, I noticed that we had a new Eeyore hat. It's perfect with those adorable floppy ears!

Winter Skin Woes: How to get soft skin even in winter!

Winter is finally here! This means snow, cold temperatures, and dry, dry air. Until the snow melts we’ll all suffer from chapped lips and hands.

I’ve had dry skin all of my life, with the added fun of eczema. January and February are by far the worst months for my skin. Thankfully I’ve discovered the most fun way to get smooth skin for mommy and kids!

All you need for soft skin in winter is a bathtub, a bath bomb, and some body cream.

Draw a nice hot bath and drop in a bath bomb! They’re fun and fizzy, which feels very nice and relaxing. The oil in them will soften your skin and fill your bathroom with a wonderful relaxing scent. Personally, I love the Oatmeal Milk and Honey type. It smells so delicious!
 Bath time is so much more fun with Mr. Rubber Duckie
 
When your little one gets out of the bath, don’t dry them off right away! If they’re dripping everywhere you can pat them dry a little bit, but this works best when they’re still slippery. Putting on cream and lotion when you’re still wet from a bath or shower seals in the moisture.  Apply a very thick cream all over their skin. The absolute best is made by Eucerin. It seals in moisture like no other! The only downside is that it’s very thick and doesn’t go on as easily as moisturizer. Using it directly after a bath makes the application easier.

Baking Cookies!

One of my most vivid memories from my childhood is of me and my grandmother making lemon meringue pie in her sunny Arizona kitchen. Baking with your kids creates fun memories and you get a yummy snack at the end! What’s better than that?

If you have the same issues I do with baking, this chocolate chip cookie recipe from the Nestle Tollhouse website is perfect. It takes a lot of effort to get it wrong. Don’t throw all the ingredients into a bowl and mix! I did this once and it took forever to mix completely.




Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1 cup chopped nuts

Directions
PREHEAT oven to 375° F.

COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

BAKE for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
